Post-Expo Reflections...
A few hours ago I finished my 3 day Exposure [expo] Program in the Southern Tagalog region of the Philippines. I’m still trying to process everything I’ve experienced, so my mind is all over the place right now.
I’ve seen how going on expo has affected my friends and always wondered if it would be the same way with me. In just a few short days of integrating with different...

The countdown begins...
I don’t know what time it is back in the U.S., but I’m in the Philippines right now and eagerly awaiting the start of my Exposure/Immersion Program tomorrow morning (12/27). Honestly, I think I’m more nervous/excited about this than I was before boarding the plane to come here.
Although I’m still not sure exactly where I’m going tomorrow, I know that it’ll be...

Perspective...
For those who might not know, I was born in Guam and didn’t move to the U.S. until I was about four years old. One of the few memories I have from my early island years were the cock fights that my relatives had at my grandma’s house. In an attempt to be braver than I really was, I asked to hold one of the roosters by the tail during one of the practice rounds, but I immediately let go...

Another update...
Random reflections/observations I’ve made so far in the Philippines:
Not only are the food portions smaller than in the U.S. (as they should be), but napkins are also extremely small.
The food is superbly awesome here (and cheap), but I’m hella missing steamed vegetables and/or salad right now. I’ve been eating vegetables, but it’s all been in some sort of chop suey...

Peace of mind...
The best indicator that I’m enjoying my vacation is that I’ve lost track of time and constantly have to ask what day/date it is.

Change of pace...
Random thought: I’m about 90% sure that I’m not going to shave my facial hair during my three weeks in the Philippines. I’ve always wondered what I would look like with a beard and if I can even grow one. Now that I don’t have to worry about being “presentable” for work, this might be my only chance. I’ll probably rock the beard for a day or two when I get...

Philippines update...
I’d be lying if I said that this will hopefully be the first of many posts while I’m here in the Philippines. I’d actually prefer to stay away from the internet as much as possible while I’m here (except out of necessity). I’m at an internet cafe and not really trying to go over my time limit, so this might be a little scatterbrained.
My first day here was...

Finish Line...
Lately I’ve been putting in a lot of extra hours in the office and also bringing my work home with me to make sure I get everything done, but it finally paid off. Now there’s only 15 minutes left in the work day before I can finally start my three week vacation!!! I thought I was gonna be on cruise control today but I was still going hard to the very last minute.
The last few months...

Unheard of...
Knowing that this upcoming week is going to be extremely busy, this weekend was my last chance to get things done before leaving for the Motherland in six days(!!!). Unfortunately, this meant that I had to skip out on some events, but at least I made the best of my time.
I don’t know what came over me, but I managed to shake a lifetime of procrastinating tendencies and am now 90% packed...

ONE. WEEK.
I’m leaving for the Philippines exactly one week from today. Lately I’ve been so busy with my day job and community organizing work that it hasn’t occurred to me just how soon I’ll be taking off. Obviously, I’m aware of my departure date, but now it’s really sinking in.
Excitement ensues…
